The title: a'musing'mezzo -- double entendre absolutely meant. That's right...revel in it.
First, a few words about blogging:
I had thought to start a blog 2 summers ago, after I'd returned from singing my French debut at an opera festival on Belle-ile en mer (Beautiful island on the sea.) It was, indeed, a gorgeous island and I had fun singing and living in a foreign environment, but I quickly convinced myself I had nothing significant to write and aborted the idea completely.
Fast-forward to today.
My life has changed so much in the last two years, and I have lived through some deeply challenging events in my personal life. I admit I may not have world-changing insights to offer, but these challenges and changes are worthy of wordy reflection. As I write this I'm not sure whom I will invite to read, nor do I know how personal my posts will be. I have never been good at long-distance close contact via phone, email, or letters, and because I know that in the last year I have grown very quiet on my favorite public forum (Facebook,) my hope is that this blog will bring some of you closer to me.
As for my personal mission: I hope this writing process will enable me to rationally challenge some of my fears, encourage me to take up more space in the world, and -- perhaps most importantly -- to figure out how to quiet this busy brain of mine and just enjoy life while I've still got it!
